In the upcoming sections, we will describe each step of the journey on how to blog for newbies and provide more details.
Choose your blog niche.
A niche is a specific topic that your blog will focus on as well as determine your target audience. Additionally, it will help you choose a name for your blog and develop a focused blogging strategy.
Examples of blog niche ideas include writing about books, travel, gaming, photography, and food.
It can be tempting to cover a wide range of topics when starting a blog page. However, trying to master every subject is incredibly difficult and unsustainable. You can churn out a few successful posts, but your audience will fragment, making it difficult to maintain a loyal readership.
That’s why it’s important to stick to a niche that can earn you a devoted following. A dedicated audience will look forward to your next piece of content, giving your blog a steady stream of traffic.
To find the perfect niche for a successful blog, keep the following tips in mind:
- Choose a niche that you love or are passionate about. It’s always more exciting to write about something you enjoy than to force yourself to write about something you enjoy.
- Think about your hobbies, interests or topics you want to learn more about. If possible, make them more specific.A good example would be a book blog that focuses on reading on a budget.
- Choose a venue that has an audience capacity. There should be a pre-existing level of interest in your chosen topic to ensure that you will have an audience to write about.
- Find the search volume for your specific keyword using Google Trends and determine if people are talking about it on social media and community forums.Doing so can give you blog post ideas to write about booting.
- You don’t have to be an expert to take advantage of a niche. Being an expert brings with it a certain authority that many readers seek, but it’s not a requirement. More importantly, a min.
After hosting is set up, it’s time to get a domain name. A domain name is what visitors have to enter in the address bar to reach your site. For example, hostinger.com is our domain name.
To secure a custom domain name, purchase it from the domain registrar of your choice. Some web hosting companies, including Hostinger, double as domain registrars. So, it is possible to buy web hosting and domain at the same time.
If you purchase hosting from Hostinger for one year or more, you’ll also get a free domain name for one year.
When choosing your domain name, try to make it memorable and as close to your blog name as possible. To help brainstorm domain name ideas, try our domain checker. Using a unique domain extension like us .xyz, .online, .club will make your blog address stand out, making it easier to remember.
Choose a .club domain if you have a membership subscription or if you want your followers to feel a sense of belonging. Consider Hostinger as a domain name provider to register your domain in no time.
Set up a blogging platform.

Once you’ve purchased a hosting plan and chosen a domain name, it’s time to decide on the blogging platform your new blog will run on.Host or self-host?Depending on the platform you choose, you will choose either a hosted or self-hosted solution. It is important to know the difference between the two.
Hosted platforms are all inclusive. They usually include all the tools needed to create a blog. No need to purchase hosting and domain name separately.
Examples of hosted blogging platforms include website builders such as WordPress.com, Zyro, Squarespace, and Weebly. However, be careful not to confuse WordPress.com with self-hosted WordPress.org.Here are the pros and cons of choosing a hosting platform or website builder for your blog:
Pros:
- Quick setup. Hosted platforms are often all-in-one website building solutions. No need to purchase separate hosting or custom domain names before building your site.
- Exceptionally beginner friendly. The hosting platform is easy to use, even for complete beginners. As a result, setting up your blog and publishing your first post is possible with just a few clicks.
- Dedicated support. Many hosting platforms have a dedicated support team that you can contact via live chat, email or phone.
- No maintenance work. Site security and backup are handled by the platform – you can focus on publishing and promoting your blog.
Cons
- Limited control. You must abide by the rules and restrictions of the Platform. It is not possible to have complete control and hosting resources on your site.
- Limited ownership. Your blog and all its content are stored on the platform’s servers, so you don’t own them outright.
- inflexibility Most hosting platforms are built on closed source systems. Templates and add-ons are usually limited to what the service officially offers. Additionally, migrating to another platform is often impossible – you may need to rebuild the website from scratch.
- Difficult to scale. Hosting platforms are not designed to handle large websites. If you plan to grow your website, consider using a self-hosted platform instead.
- Alternatively, if you decide to go for a self-hosted blog you will need to purchase blog hosting separately. Examples of self-hosted platforms are content management systems such as WordPress.org, Drupal, and Joomla.
- A content management system (CMS) is software that allows users to create and manage websites through a graphical user interface. It enables people to build websites without coding from scratch.
- Here are the pros and cons of having a self-hosted platform or CMS:
Pros :
- Full control. You are free to adjust settings and manage your hosting resources – all depending on the hosting plan you choose.
- Seemingly endless customization. With a self-hosted platform like WordPress, you are free to choose from thousands of WordPress plugins and themes from the official directory or third-party sources.
- Full ownership. You fully own your blog and all of its content because you are renting the space in which they are stored.
- Built to scale. Self-hosted platforms can support websites of any size as long as your hosting provides enough resources.
Cons of
- A steep learning curve. Although using a self-hosted platform is significantly easier than hand-coding a website from scratch, it still requires some technical knowledge compared to website builders.
- It takes some time to set up. Unlike the quick setup of most hosted platforms, self-hosted platforms require additional steps such as purchasing web hosting, registering a domain, and installing the platform’s software.
- No dedicated support. Most self-hosted platforms

A new window will pop up. Fill the form with correct details:
Check if your domain name is valid.

Enter your website title. The name of the blog is usually written here. This can be changed later in the Site Identity settings on the WordPress dashboard.
Choose your preferred language.
Select Always update to the latest available version to get the latest features and security patches.
Select Install.
5. Publish content and grow your blog.
After the installation is complete, login to your WordPress admin area. Here, you can start making changes to your new blog.
This section will focus on how to design and customize a self-hosted WordPress blog. We’ll cover WordPress themes and how to customize them. We’ll also go over the plugins and setup of pages that should be included in your blog.
Choose a blog theme.
The theme is a pre-made design template for WordPress sites that can be further customized. Both free and premium options are available in third-party sources such as WordPress Library and Theme Forest. There are over 8,400+ available in the official WordPress theme directory alone.
With premium themes, expect to get dedicated support, regular updates, and access to premium plugins with your purchase. Free WordPress themes can be sufficient for some successful blogs, but they usually include little or no support, making premium themes worth the investment.
When looking for the best theme for your blog, consider these important factors:
- pricing. If you’re looking at a premium theme, make sure the theme is worth the price. Compare it to other similarly priced themes.
- Proper design. The design of the theme should match the content of your blog. When in doubt, always prefer simple designs that elevate your blog entries.
- characteristics. Check that the theme you want includes features like a drag-and-drop builder, pre-made layouts, and customer support.
- Responsiveness Use a responsive theme that adapts to any screen size – More than half of all website traffic comes from mobile devices.
- Before getting a theme, read user reviews to see if people have had a positive experience with it.
- To install a theme from the WordPress directory, log into your dashboard and go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add New. Hover over the theme you want and click Install. Activate it after the installation is complete.
- To install a theme from a third-party source that you downloaded, select Upload Themes, upload the theme’s .zip file, and then install and activate it.
- After activating your chosen theme, it’s time to further adjust the website design.
- The rule of thumb is to aim for simplicity. Remember – the main selling point of a blog is the content. So, make sure that the reading and browsing experience will be enough for your visitors.
Consider implementing these tips to get the best look for your blog:
For a more intuitive designing experience, install a drag-and-drop page builder plugin like Elementor or Beaver Builder.
Choose color combinations, layouts, and fonts that contribute to an enjoyable user experience.
Add an image gallery to make your blog content more engaging.
Add a logo to strengthen your blog’s brand. You don’t need to create one from scratch or hire a graphic designer – there are many free logo generators available.
Use icons instead of text when appropriate. They make your site more visually appealing. Social media buttons are a good example.
If you’re feeling stuck, peruse resources on web design inspiration.
If you want to outsource the design of your blog, you can hire a web designer.
Install plugins and tools to enhance functionality.
A WordPress plugin is a piece of code that extends the functionality of a website. Plugins provide additional features and can be installed, adjusted, and removed quickly. No coding knowledge is required to manage the plugin.
Different plugins serve different purposes. Some enhance site security, others perform backups, receive contact forms, moderate comments, or add Google Analytics.
We recommend you check out the following essential plugins:
- iThemes Security. This plugin enhances the security features of a WordPress site.
- Updraft Plus. Use this plugin to simplify backup and site restoration.
- WP form. With this plugin, you will be able to easily create forms.
- Axmit Spam Protection. As the name suggests, this extension helps fight spam.
- MonsterInsights. This plugin adds Google Analytics to a site
Publish pre-launch campaigns and blog content.
Before starting blogging it is important to take care of pre-launch campaign. A well-planned blog is more likely to be successful. You have to make decisions about the type of content you want to publish and your posting schedule.
To develop a successful content strategy, follow these recommendations:
Define your goals. Avoid setting abstract goals to track your progress. Instead, aim for concrete milestones, like “1000 newsletter subscribers by the end of the year.”
Identify your target audience. Know the commonalities of your demographic – their personalities, needs, concerns and hopes.
Find online communities where your target audience hangs out. For example, if your blog is about books, check out r/books on Reddit. If you can put yourself in your readers’ shoes when you write, your content will resonate with them.
Find your competitors. Find out who the real competition is in your blog’s niche. Read and analyze their most popular posts, find out what works for them, and try to find areas where your blog could do better or offer a unique perspective. Is. can do. This will help you stand out from other blogs.
List the topics you will write about. When choosing them, consider any information you have about your target audience and your competitors.
Do keyword research to find out the level of interest and competition for each chosen topic. There should be a strong, data-driven reason for choosing each topic.
Schedule your posts. The key to building a loyal readership is consistency. It is better to stick to a regular schedule rather than churning out a large number of posts and being absent for long periods of time.
Expert advice
- You should try to write and post content at least three times a week. Finally, you should try to visit at least once a day.

So, how do you start a blog?
Learn how to create a blog in about 20 minutes by following these steps:
How to Start a Blog in 6 Steps
- Choose a blog name. Choose a descriptive name for your blog.
- Get your blog online. Register your blog and get hosting.
- Customize your blog. Choose a free blog design template and customize it.
- Write and publish your first post. Share your ideas with the world. The fun part!
- Promote your blog. Get more people to read your blog with proper marketing.
- Make money blogging. Choose from several options to monetize your blog.
- Should you start a blog?
One of the misconceptions about starting a blog is that you have to be a great writer to be successful. Nothing could be further from the truth. People read blog sites to get a personal perspective on things, so most bloggers write in a very informal and conversational style.
And because of the format, many successful bloggers will write about different topics on the same blog.
Also, you don’t need to be an expert on any topic to create a successful blog. For example, visitors to a cooking blog don’t want to read a food scientist’s textbook, they want to hear the experiences of someone who has actually cooked some real food, mistakes and all.
There’s really only one requirement to succeed as a blogger: passion for your topic.
At its heart, blogging is about sharing your knowledge with the world. Writing about things you’re passionate about makes starting a successful blog a lot easier. As long as you’re writing about things you’re genuinely interested in, your passion will shine through and keep your visitors interested.
So why would you go to the trouble of blogging? There are a few reasons for this:
Share your story. A blog allows you to have a voice and be heard. If you want, you can share your story with the whole world. One of the most common ways blogs are used is as a diary where the blogger writes about their daily experiences so that friends, family and others can become a part of their lives.
Earn money sitting at home. Blogging can be quite profitable if done correctly. The top bloggers in the world obviously earn very little, but even a part-time blogger can expect good returns if things are done right. The best thing about it is that blogging is a form of passive income, as you can spend just a few hours a week writing a piece of content and then reap the profits even after the writing is done. Can continue. I go into more detail on how to blog for money later in this guide.
Identify yourself or your business. No, you probably won’t have paparazzi because of your latest post. But a successful blog makes your idea a reality, and can get you a lot of recognition in your relevant field. Many bloggers are known as experts just because of their blogs, and some have even gotten book and movie deals based on their blogs.
Find a community. At its heart, blogging is interactive. You write a post and people comment on it. It’s a great way to connect with people who are interested in the same things as you. Blogging allows you to teach people based on your experience.
Step 1: Choose a blog name.
If you’re not sure what to name your blog, or what topic to blog about, skip to the next section.
If you’ve already got an idea for your blog name, you can check to make sure someone else hasn’t already registered it:
- Enter blog name and extension here.
- Note: You cannot use any spaces or punctuation other than dashes in the domain name.
- If you find that the name you wanted is already taken, there are a few things you can do:
- Try a different domain extension. You can still get the .net or .org version of the name if the .com version is already registered.
- Add short words. Words like “a”, “my”, “best”, or “the”. For example, the site is called TheBlogStarter.com instead of BlogStarter.com.
- Add dashes between words. For example, scott-chow.com
How to Choose a Blog Title and Name
If you don’t already have an idea for a name, the first step is to choose a title for your blog.
If you’re not sure what to blog about, here are a few ways to find a good blog topic:
Life experiences. Everyone has lessons they have learned from life experience. Sharing this knowledge can be incredibly helpful to others in similar situations.
For example, I recently helped a woman start her own blog about being a fireman’s wife. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with others about this topic, and has helped connect others in similar situations.
Think about the things you have experienced in life. It could be about your family (eg: a blog about being a stay-at-home mom), work (a blog about experiences dealing with clients), or other life experiences (hard times (a blog about coping with something like an illness or divorce, or about a happy time like getting married or having a baby).
A personal blog. A personal blog is a blog about you. It will cover a variety of topics, from things you do on a daily basis, to random thoughts and music. It’s a great way to share your thoughts with the world without sticking to just one topic.
Hobbies and interests. Hobbies or other interests that you are passionate about are a great place to start. Cooking, travel, fashion, sports, and cars are all classic examples. But even blogs about more obscure hobbies can be successful, because your audience is literally anyone in the world with an Internet connection.
Once you have a theme, it’s time to choose your blog name, also known as your domain name.
A good blog name should be descriptive so that potential visitors can immediately tell what your blog is about just by the name.
If you’re blogging about a specific topic, you’ll want to include it in some way when choosing a domain name. Try not to get hung up on just one word. For example, a cooking blog doesn’t necessarily have the word “cooking” in it. The words “food”, “recipes”, and “food” also tell people that your blog is about cooking. If you are planning to create a personal blog where you discuss various topics I recommend using your name, or some variation of it, because your blog is about you. For example, I own the blog scottchow.com. You can also add your middle name or middle initial if you feel your name has already been taken. Or you can use variations like “Scott Chow Blog” or “Blogging with Scott”.
Can’t decide on a good name for your blog? Contact me and I will personally help you (for free)!Once you have some name ideas, you’ll need to choose a domain extension.
The .com domain extension is most preferred, but .net or .org also work. It is also important to note that for blog domain purposes you cannot put any spaces between words. So “Blogging with Scott” becomes bloggingwithscott.com.
Step 2: Get your blog online.
Now that you’ve chosen a name, it’s time to get your blog online. It may sound difficult or technical, but the steps below will guide you in the right direction and make the process easy.
Simple Steps to Help You Blog Easily To get your blog up and running, you need two things: blog hosting (also known as web hosting) and blogging software. The good news is that these are usually packaged together.
A blog host is a company that stores all the files for your blog and provides them when a user types in your blog name. To have a blog you must have a blog host.
You should also have software to create your blog. In this guide I will show you how to create a blog using WordPress blogging software, as it is the most popular, customizable and easy to use.
Step 3: Customize Your Blog
How do I start a blog? You can watch me create and customize a beautiful blog from scratch here:
The video above should answer many questions you may have about how to set up and customize a blog. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of some of the things I show in the video.
Logging in
If you’re not already logged in from the previous step, go to Bluehost.com and click “Login” on the top right to bring up the login screen. You can then login using your domain name and the password set in the previous step. If you have misplaced your password, you can reset it by clicking the “Forgot Password” link.
Log in to your account and start creating your blog.
After you login you will be taken to your BlueHost portal. From the portal you can click the blue “WordPress” button to automatically log in to your WordPress blog.
Changing the design of your blog
After logging in you will be in the WordPress dashboard. This is where you can make any changes to your blog.
Everyone has a different idea of how they want their blog to look. One of the best things about WordPress is that you can change your entire layout and design with just a few clicks.
In WordPress, blog layouts are known as “themes”. What is a blog theme? Themes control the entire design of your WordPress blog. To change your theme you are going to click on the “Appearance” tab in the left menu.
How to choose a theme
You will notice that there are several free WordPress themes already installed on your blog: Twenty Seventeen, Twenty Sixteen, etc. These are well-designed, clean-looking themes that can work for any type of blog. In fact, many of the world’s top bloggers use one of these themes.
Unless you have a specific design in mind for your blog, I recommend using one of these themes to get started. For our example, let’s use the “Twenty Sixteen” WordPress theme. To activate the theme on your blog, hover over the theme and click the “Activate” button. that’s it! You’ve changed the entire design of your blog with just one click!
How to activate the theme
If you don’t like any of the pre-installed themes, you can easily choose from thousands of other free WordPress themes. To install a new WordPress theme, click the “Appearance” tab in the left menu and then click “Add New Theme.”
How to install new theme
This is a WordPress theme search screen. There are thousands of themes to choose from. You can change your entire design at any time just by activating a new WordPress theme. To find a theme you like, I suggest you click on the “Popular” tab and start browsing. When you find one you like, click the blue “Install” button.
How to change your theme
After the theme is installed, click “Activate” to activate the theme on your blog. To see your new theme in action, head over to your blog and take a look!
Changing your theme is the easiest way to customize your WordPress blog, but there are many other customizations you can make. Check out my full post on customizing your WordPress blog for an in-depth step-by-step guide. You can also watch the video above showing me how to fully customize a WordPress blog from scratch.
Step 4: How to write a new blog post and publish it.
Now that you have your blog up and running it’s time to actually do some blogging! Let’s create your first piece of content.

- Go to the left menu and click on “Posts”.
- Write your first blog post.
- You will see that there is already a post there. This is a default post on every new WordPress blog, and we don’t need it. Just click “Trash” below the post to delete it.
- Delete the Hello World default post.
- To start writing a new post, click the “Add New” link.
- Add a new post to your blog.
- You are now on the post editor screen. Enter your post title in the box above and then start writing your post in the box below.
- If you want to add an image to your post, click the “Add Image” icon and click “Upload” to upload the image from your computer. You can make adjustments to the image size on the next screen. When you’re ready, click “Insert into Post” to add a photo.
Insert an image into a blog post.
Once you’re done with your post, click the “Publish” button at the top right of the screen to publish a new post.Content that should be on your blog.
Your blog should provide two main types of content: static and dynamic content.Static Content: Your blog should contain a few essential pages that are clearly designed to provide the visitor with the tools they need. The content on these pages is static, meaning – the content doesn’t change, or at least not often. These are basically top-level pages accessed through your blog’s menu.
How to write great blog content
Each post should be long, informative and engaging. It’s not always easy to come up with new blog post ideas on a regular basis and you’re free to mix up the tone and even the topic to keep things lively and interesting. After all, this is your place. But there are certain elements that every piece of content should try to include.
Define Content: Create a catchy post title that sparks curiosity and encourages clicks. Use the first paragraph of your post to clearly state the topic of your article and provide a potential hook for readers to read on.
The longer the better – but break it down: the more information and detail you include, the better. But if the content consists of a mile-long paragraph, visitors will start skimming, and they’ll pop out faster than they came in. Visitors will enjoy the good news. Keep your paragraphs short with spaces in between, use lists and stand-out quotes, use images, and always include headings and subheadings so visitors can find what they’re looking for. .
Engage The Reader: At the end of each post, a common tactic used to engage visitors is posing a meaningful question to your audience and asking them to respond in the comments. This simple step can increase engagement tenfold.
Original content: Your content should always be original. Never plagiarize – you will eventually be called out on it and may even face consequences. Your content should come from your heart, your mind, your knowledge base, and your experience. You can get topic ideas from others in your field, but make sure the content comes from you.
Original Images: While it’s easy to add stock images from free image sites, it’s even better to add your own photos and graphic work. Another idea is to take free photos and combine them with a free photo editor.
Edit Your Work: Your blog content should be heavily edited. Nothing says unprofessional like several typographical and grammatical errors. If you need a few grammar refresher courses, consider using a written application.
Publish your blog.
Your blog placeholder page is still showing after you write your post.

When you’re ready to make your blog public for the first time, click the “BlueHost” menu at the top left of the menu in your WordPress dashboard, then click the blue button to remove the placeholder page and launch your blog. Click the “Launch” button. . Click the button.
Start your own blog.
Congratulations! Now you know how to start your own blog and publish content!
Step 5: Promote your blog.
Creating a well-designed blog and writing great content is just the beginning. To get traffic to your blog you need to spend some time promoting it, especially when you first start.
The strategies below will help you get your blog in front of more readers. You don’t have to use every strategy – try a few and see what works best for you.
Inform your inner circle.
The first people who should be aware of your blog are your inner circle. This includes family, friends and colleagues in your field. Encourage them to become followers, ask them to mention your new blog, and – most importantly – thank them.Use social media.
Social media promotion
Although you don’t want to overdo it, you still want to create an account with the “big guys” like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram. You should post a link to your latest content on your accounts, but you can also post links to related news and other sources that your readers might find interesting. Don’t forget to use hashtags and engage with your followers!
One of my favorite ways to get visitors to my blog is to post links to my social accounts, like Facebook and Twitter. This is great, because not only do your friends see the link, but if your friends share the link with their friends, it automatically increases your visitors. If you have created high-quality content on your blog, social media is one way for your blog to go viral.
Comment on other blogs.
Find and engage with other blogs in your community. Using the comment section, introduce yourself and leave engaging and constructive comments. Many will allow you to leave a link to their blog. By building relationships with prominent bloggers in your community, you’ll soon find yourself among their ranks.
Engage with your visitors.
When your readers comment on your posts, always engage with them. Respond to their comments and questions, give them “likes” and affirmations. When it becomes clear that the author cares about his community and readers, visitors are naturally encouraged to return.
Collaborate with other bloggers.
Join your blogging community by collaborating with respected members of your field. Collaboration includes guest posting, promoting each other’s blogs and products, and commenting and social media.
Step 6: Make money from your blog.
Once you’ve put in the effort to create great blog content and promote your blog, making money from your blog is actually the easy part.
Blogs have the potential to be extremely profitable, but don’t assume that you’ll start making money in the first week, or even the first month. It may take six months to a year to see a steady stream of income. Blogging takes hard work and dedication, but once you build a large enough audience, you can use a number of methods to monetize your blog.
Sell advertising space.
Once you have a popular blog, advertisers will offer you the opportunity to advertise. The best way to take advantage of this situation is to use Google Adsense. Google finds advertisers for you and all you have to do is put the Google AdSense code on your blog to start running ads. Google Adsense takes all the hard work out of the process and just cuts you a check.
I go into full details on how to set up Google Adsense for your WordPress blog here.
Sell affiliate products.
Affiliate programs are a commission-based method of advertising. When one of your readers clicks on a link on your blog, they are directed to the advertiser’s site and you get a commission if they make a purchase. Affiliate links are a good way to earn income through the use of product reviews. However, you must remember to indicate that you are affiliated with the product.
Sell products and services.
Selling your products and services directly on your blog is a great way to increase your income. As your blog grows and you begin to see a wider audience, your products and services begin to sell themselves.
Use your blog’s sidebar to increase the visibility of what you sell by using visual images and a link to your storefront page.
Sell digital downloads.
eBooks, video tutorials, and e-courses are the most commonly used digital content sold by bloggers. With no overhead and no shipping costs, you can keep the price low and inviting.
If you’re very knowledgeable in your field, an ebook can practically write itself. Try it, you might surprise yourself!
Sell memberships.
Another way to monetize is to create subscription options on your blog. This allows you to offer members more exclusive content that is only available with a paid membership. For example, you can offer unlimited downloads of digital goods, free consultations, a private network or forum where community members can mingle, and private content available only to members.
There are many ways a blog can leverage popularity and traffic. Choosing how to monetize your blog depends on your goals and the purpose of your blog. People selling services, physical goods, and digital goods, for example, may not want to participate in affiliate programs where the traffic ends up on another site.

Buy hosting and your domain name.
Already decided on your blog niche? Great, then two things are needed to make your free WordPress blog accessible to people around the world or ready for search engine optimization:
Hosting – This is the engine that powers your site. While you may not “see” it, every website on the Internet has a hosting provider that powers it.
Domain – This is the permanent address of your blog. For example, ours is themeisle.com. If you need help coming up with a good name and figuring out how custom domains work, check out this post.
You can buy your blog hosting and domain at the same time – so don’t worry too much just yet. But before you can do that, you need to choose a WordPress host. Due to the popularity of WordPress, there are a large number of WordPress hosts.
We have personally tested the performance and reliability of many hosting companies. With the results of all these experiences in mind, we can recommend Bluehost to bloggers new to the world of WordPress.
Here’s why:
- It is affordable. You can host your site for a small flat fee per month – that’s just $2.75 per month for your first 12 months.
- You get a free domain name when you sign up. This has to do with affordability – your own domain would otherwise cost $10+.
- You can easily install WordPress. With just a few clicks, you can launch the WordPress software and create a working blog. No technical knowledge is required!
- It has enough performance to get you started. When you’re just getting started, BlueHost offers enough performance to keep your site loading.
- All in all, hosting your blog on BlueHost for an entire year will cost around $33, including your free domain name. It also offers a 30-day money back guarantee.

Develop an email marketing strategy for your blog.
Email marketing refers to sending emails to a group of people to promote your blog. Even in the age of social media, email marketing is an effective way to retain blog readers.
It is worth noting that it is also known to have the highest ROI compared to other marketing methods.
Many hosting providers offer custom email accounts to their clients. If your website platform does not come with email, consider purchasing separate email hosting services. This will allow you to create a professional email account such as [email protected].
The three main steps of email marketing are:
- Choose an email marketing tool. An email marketing tool will make managing your email marketing campaigns easy. If you have a WordPress blog, there are many newsletter plugins to choose from.
- Create an email list. On your homepage and individual posts, always encourage new readers to sign up for your email newsletter. You can offer incentives like exclusive content and free ebooks via email to convince them.
- Send high-quality emails. Make sure you offer real value in every email you send. Create attractive subject lines that reflect the content of the email. Add call-to-action buttons, such as “Read Here,” that link to your blog post.
Try guest blogging.
Guest blogging or guest posting is publishing content for other websites. The general idea is to get your blog exposure by getting published on websites with a large following. This is also an opportunity to add backlinks to your blog, which can have a positive impact on SEO.
Make sure to only choose websites that are relevant to your niche. This way, you will ensure that you write guest blog posts that will attract your ideal target audience.
When pitching an article to one of your chosen websites, make sure the topic matches the theme of the website.
If your pitch is accepted, start writing a guest post. In addition to providing backlinks to your blog, use internal links that direct readers to other posts on the website. Avoid blatantly promoting your blog.
Once a guest post is published, keep in touch with the webmaster you worked with. If a guest post does well, your future pitches are more likely to be accepted by other bloggers.
Monetize your blog.
Once your blog is up and running, there will be opportunities to make money. There are many ways to monetize your blog. Here are some of the most common methods:
Affiliate marketing. By becoming a brand affiliate, bloggers can earn money by using affiliate links. Whenever a blog visitor makes a purchase using the affiliate link, the brand affiliate will earn a commission rate of approximately 5-30% of the product’s sales price.
Paid advertising. Bloggers can add ad space to their website by signing up for an ad network. Ad networks like Google AdSense help bloggers quickly connect with brands relevant to their audience.
Sponsored Posts. Reach out to brands to get paid to write about their products. Before doing this, make sure that your blog has enough readers and traffic.
Digital and physical products. Create an e-commerce site for your blog and sell physical and digital products related to your content. For example, sell digital products like online courses and ebooks that cover your blog posts in more depth. Selling physical goods is also worth considering.
User Subscriptions. Create exclusive content that visitors can access with a subscription to a separate membership site or part of your blog. Maintain subscription value by regularly offering unique, high-quality content.
